Angst-day the 13th

 

"Mouse, I have to leave now."

Mouse shuddered and suddenly looked and felt like a much tinier kitten than she actually was. But, make no mistake, she was still a kitten. "...I'm not ready to leave, Papop."

"Good. Because..you're not coming with me," Ardeth grimaced. "You have to stay here, Precious."

"But...I don't WANT to stay here without you!"

"We're familiars, hon. We have to stay by our witches; you don't get choice." 

Mouse crouched, ready to make a dash for the first step. "But I don't WANT to do it!"Aunt Bastet's sadness turned to temper, yet again. "I don't WANT you to go!" 

"MOUSE!"

There was silence. 

Ardeth swiftly turned about, tail and left through the crack in the door. "You have to do things you don't WANT to do."
