Familiar Friday - California Condor

 

The California Condor which has no right not being California’s state bird (I mean, if our state mammal is an extinct clad of bear we ought to have an endangered and very rare bird species as our logo). They’re a very striking buzzard, if I do say so myself. I had a plushie of one I got from a museum as a kid that made weird hacking noises instead of bird calls…and I guess they were my first “I find it beautiful” creepy creature in that regard because I always found them graceful. I mean, just look at how they take dust-baths! So iconic.
